Did you know:

This station started life as a coal fired power station to supply electricity to an aluminium smelter. EPUKI invested almost £0.5bn in decarbonising the station which has now been fully converted to sustainable low carbon biomass wood pellets.

The conversion programme included the construction of six 194ft high biomass storage silos on site, new fuel handling facilities as well as the reopening of the trainline from the Port of Tyne direct to the power station.  Approx 1.6m tonnes of wood pellets are transported to Lynemouth each year and it is the largest dedicated biomass power station in the UK.

Future opportunities include Biomass with Carbon Capture and Storage which would produce negative carbon emissions, significantly helping the UK on its journey to Net Zero.
